Stephen Ellcock is a London-based author, ‘Iconomancer’, obsessive pattern-maker, and a hunter-gatherer and collector of images who has spent the last decade creating an ever-expanding virtual museum of art that is open to all via social media. His ongoing attempt to create the ultimate social media ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ has already attracted more than 700,000 followers worldwide, along with growing media attention — not all of it unwelcome.
He is the author of The Cosmic Dance, Underworlds, Elements, All Good Things, England on Fire (with text by Mat Osman), The Book of Change, Stephen Ellcock’s Book of Textiles, Common People (with Leah Gordon), and Jamie Reid: Time for Magic (with John Marchant).
His forthcoming books include Ark and The Esoterica Sticker Book. The BalletBoyz staged an adaptation of England on Fire at Sadlers Wells in 2023 and the Karl Lagerfeld Foundation recently commissioned a series of dance pieces based on The Cosmic Dance / La Danse Cosmique, which were performed by Ballet de l’Opera de Lyon in Paris in 2024 and Spring 2025. Stephen has been variously described as ‘the most inspiring dandy of the new, weightless world’ and ‘the soul of the internet’.
